CA resident Yanira Alvarez, who purchased a Powerball ticket at Las Palmitas Mini Market in downtown Los Angeles, has come forward as the winner of a 10-figure jackpot.
Her winning numbers were 7, 10, 11, 13, 24, and the red Powerball 24. Store manager Navor Herrera and family members identified Yanira as “100% a Latina lady.”
Yanira opted for a one-time cash value of $558.1 million after winning $1.08 billion. This makes her the third-billion-dollar Powerball jackpot winner in California.
Part of her winnings will go to support local schools, according to California Lottery Director Harjinder K. Shergill Chima.
The biggest Powerball jackpot ever won was $2.04 billion in November 2022, with Edwin Castro being the winner.
Edwin’s jackpot was the largest in Powerball history, and he chose a one-time payment of $997.6 million.
