Eugene Lee Yang, a prominent member of the Try Guys, has made a name for himself as a filmmaker, actor, author, director, producer, and activist.

Alongside his fellow creators Ned Fulmer, Keith Habersberger, and Zach Kornfeld, Yang co-founded the popular vlog-style YouTube channel Try Guys in 2014.

The Try Guys gained popularity through their comedic reviews where they conducted various tests, such as testing their sperm count, learning karate, raising toddlers, shaving their legs, and wearing crop tops. This led to the creation of several books and even a Food Network TV series.

In addition to their entertaining content, Yang has used his platform to speak out on racial intolerance and LGBTQ+ issues. He released a documentary titled “We Need to Talk About Anti-Asian Hate” in 2021, which successfully raised $600k for the Stop Asian Hate campaign on GoFundMe.

Yang also made headlines in 2019 when he came out as a proud gay man during Pride Month. In a heartfelt music video, he shared his personal journey of self-acceptance and overcoming fear and shame. This marked a significant moment for Yang, who expressed feeling safe and secure in his identity.

Recently, it was announced that Eugene Lee Yang would be leaving The Try Guys after the upcoming season to pursue other creative endeavors. While his departure is bittersweet, his fellow group members express support and excitement for both Yang and the future of the Try Guys.

One of Yang’s latest projects includes the release of his documentary “We Need to Talk About Texas,” which features gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke. Yang’s mission with this documentary is to highlight the shifting political landscape in his home state of Texas and challenge misconceptions surrounding the state’s values.

Despite his political engagement, Yang stresses that his documentary is a form of basic education rather than a political push. By providing honest and informative content, Yang aims to spark conversations and create a better understanding of the current issues facing Texas.
