TikToker Lilly Gaddis, known for her traditional wife content, faced backlash after using a racial slur in a video that resulted in her termination from her job at Rophe of the Carolinas.
Lilly Gaddis, a popular TikToker with over 45 thousand followers, gained recognition for her videos showcasing traditional wife roles. However, her social media presence took a negative turn when a video surfaced of her casually using a racial slur while cooking.
Following the release of the video, Gaddis was fired from her job at Rophe of the Carolinas, a home healthcare company for the elderly and disabled in Wilmington, North Carolina. The company released a statement denouncing Gaddis’ actions and emphasizing that her views did not align with their values.
In response to the controversy, Gaddis refused to apologize for her use of the racial slur and instead doubled down on her stance in a video shared online. She also received support from far-right figures like Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos.
The incident has shed light on the “tradwife” phenomenon, where women embrace conventional gender roles within their relationships. This trend, popularized in recent years, harkens back to the traditional values of the 1950s when wives were typically homemakers and husbands were the primary breadwinners.
Despite the backlash, some women have found fulfillment in embracing tradwife ideals. Canadian Cynthia Loewen, for example, chose to be a full-time housewife to support her ex-army husband, finding satisfaction in taking care of their home.
