Sheff G, the American rapper known for his hit track “No Suburban,” has had a tumultuous journey in the music industry.
Born Michael Kyle Williams on September 23, 1998, in New York, Sheff G was raised in Brooklyn and found inspiration in iconic rappers like The Notorious B.I.G. and Chicago drill artists such as Lil Bibby and Chief Keef.
Before launching his music career and signing with RCA Records, Sheff G became associated with the 83 (Eight Trey) Gangsta Crips at the tender age of 12. This led to a felony gun charge that resulted in a two-year prison sentence.
In 2015, he was imprisoned again for robbery, spending another two years behind bars. Despite these setbacks, Sheff G was released in 2017 and continued to pursue his passion for music.
However, his rise to fame was not without controversy. Sheff G’s single “No Suburban” sparked a feud with fellow rapper 22Gz, whose song “Suburban” was the target of Sheff G’s diss track. The rivalry between the two artists escalated as they vied for attention and followers in the competitive music industry.
In November 2021, Sheff G faced legal troubles once again when he pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. This resulted in a two-year prison sentence, with his release in April 2024. Despite these challenges, Sheff G remains dedicated to his music career and recently announced the upcoming release of his new song “Today.”
With a diverse background as an American artist with Trinidadian and Haitian heritage, Sheff G represents the vibrant cultural melting pot of Brooklyn. His music continues to resonate with listeners, with popular tracks like “Weight On Me” and “Molly” garnering millions of streams on platforms like Spotify.
