Michael Rainey Jr. is a talented actor best known for his role as Tariq St. Patrick in the popular TV series Power.
The young actor, who has also appeared in various films and television shows, attended the season four premiere of Power Book II: Ghost at The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
Rainey Jr. was part of the Power series from 2014 until its conclusion in 2020 and continued his role in its spinoff, Power Book II: Ghost. Unfortunately, it was announced in March 2024 that Power Book II: Ghost would conclude at the end of its fourth season, which premiered on June 7, 2024.
Before gaining fame in the Power universe, Michael worked on seven episodes of Orange is the New Black. Additionally, he serves as the executive producer of The Crew Has It podcast.
Recently, Michael Rainey Jr. made headlines when he appeared on Tylil James’ Twitch stream for an interview segment. During the stream, James’ sister, Jahgee, approached Michael and appeared to grope him, causing discomfort to the actor.
The incident, captured on video, led to public apologies from both Tylil James and Michael Rainey Jr. on their respective social media platforms.
Apart from his television roles, Michael Rainey Jr. has a successful film career. He starred in the English and Italian-language film Un Altro Mondo in 2010 when he was just ten years old. He later appeared in movies such as Luv alongside Common and The Butler alongside Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey. In 2016, he was also part of the cast of Barbershop: The Next Cut.
