A tragic incident unfolded in Louisiana when a mother was found dead in her home, leading to an Amber alert being issued for her two missing daughters.
The heart-wrenching search for the young girls eventually ended in tragedy, but also resulted in an arrest.
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Daniel Callihan, was apprehended in Mississippi on June 13, 2024. Callihan, who was believed to have been in a relationship with the victim, Callie Brunett, was wanted for questioning in connection to a domestic violence incident that authorities believe led to the abduction and subsequent homicide.
Following the discovery of Callie Brunett’s body in her Louisiana residence, an Amber alert was activated for her two daughters.
Tragically, four-year-old Erin was found deceased, allegedly at the hands of Callihan, while six-year-old Jalie was fortunately found unharmed. Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade revealed that Callihan attempted to harm the children once he realized law enforcement was closing in on him.
Authorities also uncovered disturbing evidence of potential human trafficking activities in the area where the girls were located, indicating a possible motive behind the abduction.
While the investigation continues, the family and the community are left mourning the loss of Callie Brunett, a devoted mother who was taken too soon.
