The Brooklyn spiritual community was shocked in March 2024 when Bishop Lamor Whitehead, a well-known religious leader, was found guilty of multiple crimes.
Bishop Lamor Whitehead, born Lamor Miller-Whitehead in 1978, is a licensed New York State chaplain and certified marriage and funeral officiant.
He obtained his Ministry in Human Services certificate from the Theological Institution of Rising Hope Inc. through Nyack College.
In 2014, Whitehead founded the Leaders of Tomorrow International Churches with the mission to engage and assist members in developing a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Whitehead’s net worth is estimated to be $2 million, and he has a large following on social media platforms like Instagram, where he posts photos of himself in flashy clothes and jewelry, as well as spiritual music.
He is known to embrace his extravagant lifestyle and can often be seen driving around New York in his Rolls Royce. However, his flashy image was tarnished when he and his family were robbed of over $1 million worth of jewelry by armed bandits during a live-streamed church service in Brooklyn.
Bishop Lamor Whitehead is married to Asia DosReis-Whitehead, a pastor and advocate for empowering women. She founded the UaReAChampion Empowerment Network after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare neurological syndrome. The couple shares four children together.
The flashy pastor was convicted of wire fraud, attempted extortion, and lying to the FBI in March 2024. The accusations included scamming an elderly woman’s retirement savings and attempting to extort a business owner in the Bronx.
Whitehead’s attorney plans to appeal the verdict, claiming that the evidence presented did not support the charges. Despite this, Whitehead was sentenced to nine years in prison by Judge Lorna G. Schofield in June 2024.
