Aimee Harris, a Florida resident, made headlines in 2020 for stealing sensitive information from Ashley Biden’s diary.
Harris, a mother of two, was temporarily staying at Biden’s residence in Delray Beach when she took the diary and other personal items.
The stolen diary contained highly personal documents, including tax records, contact information, and family photographs.
After stealing the items, Harris teamed up with Robert Kurlander to sell them to the conservative news outlet Project Veritas.
They sold each item for $20,000. In August 2022, both Harris and Kurlander pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property.
The Department of Justice initially sought six months of house arrest for Harris, but federal prosecutors are now considering four to 10 months in prison.
Harris skipped her sentencing scheduled for April 3, 2024, and has delayed 12 hearings so far. Prosecutors have accused her of willfully avoiding appearing in court and disrespecting the judicial system.
Harris’ new sentencing is set for April 9.
