Riot Fest, the annual punk rock music festival, is making a big change for its 2024 edition. The festival has announced a new venue, moving from Douglass Park in Chicago to SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois.
The decision to move comes after protests from residents in 2023 who were against the festival being held in Douglass Park. Riot Fest organizer Riot Mike cited the lack of care from the Chicago Park District as the reason for the move, stating that the festival will be leaving Douglass Park solely because of the district’s actions.
Riot Fest had been held in Douglass Park since 2015, after moving from Humboldt Park due to pushback from neighbors. The festival, which typically draws in around 50,000 attendees, will take place from September 20 to September 22, 2024, at its new location.
The 2024 Riot Fest lineup features some big names in rock music, with Fall Out Boy headlining the first night, Beck and Pavement closing out the Saturday show, and Slayer headlining on Sunday as part of their reunion shows. Other acts scheduled to perform include The Offspring, Public Enemy, St. Vincent, Sublime, Bright Eyes, NOFX, and the Marley Brothers.
Riot Fest fans can look forward to a weekend of great music at the new venue in RiotLand.
