In 1992, Lewis made a significant financial gain by betting on the Black Wednesday event, predicting the pound’s exit from the European Exchange Rate Mechanism. With his wealth accumulated from various ventures, including catering and currency trading, he acquired ownership of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in 2001.
However, in October 2022, Joe Lewis ceased to be a “person of significant control” at Tottenham Hotspur, marking the end of his ownership of the club.
