After a successful 21-season run, Dr. Phil McGraw is making a return to TV with his own network. His new venture, Merit Street Media, is set to bring essential news and entertainment to viewers.
Dr. Phil’s New TV Network – Merit Street Media
Launching Merit Street Media in late 2023, Dr. Phil announced the creation of a new cable TV network focused on delivering engaging content to a wide audience. The network will also revive Dr. Phil’s former talk show, now renamed Dr. Phil Primetime, which will air nightly at 8 pm ET.
The official release of Merit Street Media’s original programming is scheduled for April 2, 2024. The network is actively working on partnerships with Free Advertiser Supported Television (FAST) platform distributors and will be available on DirecTV, Dish, and other cable and satellite systems.
As Joel Cheatwood, COO of Merit Street Media, expressed, “We are thrilled to embark on this groundbreaking journey by creating a network that is not only widely accessible but also a hub for diverse, engaging content. With our commitment to delivering high-quality programming across multiple platforms, we anticipate Merit Street will be a trailblazer among networks.”
The End of The Dr. Phil Talk Show
After 21 years of hosting and producing The Dr. Phil Show, Dr. Phil confirmed that the final episode would air on May 25, 2023. The show, which premiered on September 16, 2002, has been a significant part of Dr. Phil’s career, but he expressed a desire to explore new opportunities.
Months later, in November, the announcement of Merit Street Media marked a new chapter in Dr. Phil’s television career. With the upcoming launch of his new network and the revival of Dr. Phil Primetime, viewers can look forward to quality programming on various platforms.
