During high school, he excelled in various sports and later pursued a degree in Fire Protection Engineering and Architecture from the University of Maryland.
After graduation, Hickey worked as a volunteer firefighter at the Woodlawn Fire Department while nurturing his interest in photography by completing a Fine Arts Photography course.
Living in the Upper Fells Point neighborhood, Jon Hickey was just about to kick off his career at the Baltimore City Fire Academy when his life was tragically cut short in November 2017.
