Dr. Hassan Ayariga, the flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), has outlined his policy statement for the creative arts sector, emphasizing his plans to support and nurture up-and-coming artists if he is elected in the December 7, 2024 election.
In his policy ideas, Dr. Ayariga focuses on areas such as artiste education, innovation, and investment. He envisions creating platforms for artists and producers to mentor young talent, refine their skills, and understand the industry better.
Additionally, he plans to establish regional platforms to mentor emerging musicians from their early stages to adulthood.
One unique initiative mentioned is the creation of an online radio platform for upcoming artistes to showcase their talent through phone and microphone performances.
Dr. Hassan Ayariga believes that a comprehensive approach involving artists, industry professionals, government, and other stakeholders is essential to elevate the music industry in Ghana.
The APC government’s strategy includes building modern studios and infrastructure to support the industry, investing in music education and talent development, creating market opportunities for musicians through digital platforms, and enhancing production quality through professional studios and producer-artiste collaborations.
Furthermore, the APC aims to strengthen intellectual property rights, create platforms for music exposure locally and internationally, provide financial support for artists and industry events, and promote Ghanaian music globally through cultural diplomacy and global recognition initiatives.
Dr. Hassan Ayariga also plans to diversify music genres, develop the business side of music through management and marketing training, and establish a Music Royalty Collection Agency for fair compensation.
The APC government’s goal is to create a robust music industry network, foster collaborations among stakeholders, and support the growth and global recognition of Ghanaian music.
