Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, has proposed a change in the date for elections in Ghana.
During an appearance on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, Bullgod suggested that moving the election date from December could have a positive impact on the creative events and investments in the country.
According to Bullgod, holding elections in December affects the festive period, as many people from the diaspora are hesitant to visit Ghana during that time due to concerns about potential violence. This results in lower attendance at events organized after the elections, leading to financial losses for event organizers.
Bullgod urged the Electoral Commission to consider shifting the election date to either November or the middle of the year. He emphasized the need for Ghana to adapt to changes and move away from traditional ways of doing things.
Edem Mensah-Tsortome, another entertainment pundit on the show, supported Bullgod’s suggestion, stating that the uncertainty surrounding elections could have led to significant losses in the entertainment industry. He called on stakeholders to reconsider the election date to mitigate these potential losses.
Both Bullgod and Edem highlighted the need for amendments to the constitution to facilitate a smooth transition process if the election date was changed. They emphasized the importance of prioritizing the country’s economic growth and stability in the decision-making process.
