The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has unveiled the Creative Arts Wall of Fame in Asemensudo, a suburb of Sekondi, located in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
This Wall has been created to honor and immortalize the names of notable individuals from the Western Region of Ghana who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the creative arts industry in the country.
Among those recognized on the Wall of Fame are renowned musicians such as Paapa Yankson, Nana Bosompra, Charles K. Mann, Jewel Ackah, Alfred Benjamin Crentsil, Ebo Taylor, and Gyedu-Blay Ambolley. Additionally, Felicia Ewuraesi Abban, a photographer, and Kwaw Ansa, a creative artist, have also been honored.
During the ceremony to unveil the Wall of Fame, Minister Mercer emphasized that this initiative is in line with the Ministry’s mandate to honor and preserve the legacies of individuals who have played a pivotal role in advancing the creative arts industry in Ghana.
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) will actively promote the Wall as a tourist attraction site in Sekondi-Takoradi to boost economic growth in the region.
Akwasi Agyeman, the CEO of GTA, praised the Minister for the establishment of the Wall of Fame, highlighting its potential to enhance the tourism appeal of Sekondi-Takoradi.
He emphasized the importance of honoring and celebrating the achievements of trailblazers in the creative arts industry.
Henry Yeleduor, the Western Regional GTA Director, expressed his commitment to marketing the Wall of Fame as a tourist destination to attract visitors to the region.
Nana Kwaw Ansa, one of the individuals honored on the Wall, expressed gratitude to Minister Mercer and his team for recognizing and preserving their legacies for future generations.
