The Ghana Culture Forum (GCF) has received valuable advice from the Head of Office of UNESCO in Ghana, Edward Moukaila, on the importance of focusing on innovation and talent development within the cultural and creative industries to drive economic growth and prosperity.
During a meeting with the leadership of the GCF, Mr. Moukaila emphasized UNESCO’s commitment to providing resources and expertise to assist in developing cultural policies that align with the needs of local communities.
He urged the GCF to prioritize not only entertainment but also innovation and talent development to address crucial issues such as youth unemployment, poverty reduction, and access to opportunities.
Furthermore, Mr. Moukaila encouraged the GCF to leverage culture as a tool for tackling contemporary challenges and to engage youth in sustainability efforts. The meeting highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Ghana Culture Forum and UNESCO to enhance cultural advocacy and development in Ghana.
Discussions centered around ongoing and future initiatives to promote Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, underscore the importance of cultural preservation and educate the youth about Ghana’s identity.
The Vice-Chairman of the Ghana Culture Forum, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, shared the forum’s plans for 2025, including advocacy and research within the cultural sector, as well as the upcoming 2025 Ghana Culture Week Celebrations in March.
Both parties expressed optimism about future collaborations, leveraging UNESCO’s global network to enhance local cultural initiatives and address key challenges in the sector.
