Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has shared some insights on how he navigates the dangers that his children might encounter on social media platforms.
In an interview with Edem Knight-Tay on Home Affairs, the artist highlighted one of the primary challenges faced by children online – pornography.
Rather than taking a strict and moralistic approach, Okyeame Kwame believes in having open and honest conversations with his children about the negative and positive effects of viewing pornography.
He emphasized the importance of educating children on the scientific reasons behind avoiding such content to protect themselves.
The musician also mentioned that he incentivizes his children to engage with educational websites while enforcing consequences for violating the rules set for their online activities.
His children, Sir Kwame Bota and Sante, also shared how their parents regulate their social media usage to shield them from potential harm and online attacks.
Okyeame Kwame and his wife, Annica, started creating social media profiles and websites for their children from a young age, recognizing the significance of digital presence in today’s world.
They have closely monitored and managed their children’s online activities, ensuring their safety and security on various platforms.
The discussion on introducing children to social media and monitoring their online content was part of the Home Affairs program, hosted by Edem Knight-Tay.
