Donald Trump recently announced that Ohio Senator JD Vance will be his running mate for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Vance, a former self-proclaimed “never Trumper,” is married to Usha Chilukuri and they have three children together.
The couple met while attending Yale Law School and got married in 2014. They share three children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
Vance doesn’t share much information about his children publicly, but he did mention missing his son Vivek’s fourth birthday during a Senate debate on aid packages to Ukraine in February 2024.
Their first child, Ewan, was born in June 2017, followed by Vivek in February 2020, and Mirabel in December 2021. Vance shared a photo of him and his wife in the hospital with their newborn daughter, describing her as their “early Christmas present.”
Usha, born in 1986, has had a significant influence on Vance’s career. She graduated from Yale with a BA in History and was also a Gates Scholar at Cambridge University.
Usha currently works as a litigation associate for Munger, Tolles, & Olson and is licensed to practice law in California, Ohio, and the District of Columbia.
Describing his wife on the Megyn Kelly Show podcast in 2020, Vance mentioned that she keeps him grounded by reminding him of her accomplishments.
He emphasized her brilliance and stated, “People don’t realise just how brilliant she is.”
