Professor Kobby Mensah has been chosen to lead the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC) as its new Chief Executive Officer.
The GTDC’s primary objective is to enhance tourism development in Ghana by promoting and investing in tourism projects, providing financial and technical assistance to small businesses in the industry, and engaging in joint ventures to improve efficiency and services.
A native of Takoradi in the Western Region, Professor Mensah received his education at St. Peters Primary School and St. Augustine’s College in Cape Coast.
He furthered his studies at IPS, now known as UPSA, and obtained his PhD in Journalism from the University of Sheffield, UK. With a background in marketing and expertise in political marketing in Africa, Professor Mensah brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
As a respected academic at the University of Ghana Business School, Professor Mensah is known for his research-oriented approach to teaching and collaborative work in the field of political marketing.
He has contributed significantly to the awareness of Africa’s emergence in the political marketing sphere and has been featured in prominent media outlets such as the BBC, Financial Times, DW, and SABC.
In addition to his work in political marketing, Professor Mensah is also a leading voice in the tourism sector.
He recently spoke on digital tourism at the African Tourism Leadership Forum and the Ghana Economic Forum, showcasing his insights and expertise in the industry.
