Maame Efua Houadjeto has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
She is a former Deputy Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and was the party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Mfantsiman Constituency in the 2024 elections. Maame Efua takes over from Akwasi Agyeman, who recently resigned from the position.
The Ghana Tourism Authority, which operates under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, has a mandate to make Ghana the preferred sustainable tourism destination.
The authority is committed to the sustainable development of tourism through the use of technology and ICT, effective regulation, and standardization.
In addition, the Ghana Tourism Authority aims to strengthen partnerships, aggressive marketing, robust investment promotion, uplift industry service standards, enhance safety and health standards, and improve accountability and shared responsibility.
The authority is a key player in promoting sustainability and believes in taking on roles that create positive change in society.
Maame Efua Houadjeto’s appointment comes at a crucial time for the Ghana Tourism Authority as they work towards achieving their goals of sustainable tourism development.
