Psychological thrillers have a way of delving deep into the dark side of the human psyche, and Netflix’s upcoming limited series promises to do just that.

‘Ripley,’ created by writer and director Steven Zaillian, offers viewers a tense and sinister slow burn, shot entirely in black-and-white, with twists that are both unsettling and captivating.

Set to premiere on Thursday, April 4, 2024, ‘Ripley’ will be available exclusively on Netflix. While the series is not based on a true story, it draws inspiration from the 1955 crime novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley, written by renowned author Patricia Highsmith.

Highsmith is known for her gripping psychological thrillers and created a series of five novels featuring the character Tom Ripley, collectively known as “The Ripliad.” The new miniseries also draws influence from two film adaptations of Highsmith’s works, Purple Noon and The Talented Mr. Ripley.

The series follows the story of conman Tom Ripley as he navigates through the world of wealth and privilege in New York City and Italy, eventually becoming entangled in a web of deceit, fraud, and murder.

Starring Andrew Scott as Tom Ripley, the ensemble cast also includes Johnny Flynn as Dickie Eastwood, Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, and Eliot Paulina Sumner as Freddie Miles.
