The Office star Ewen MacIntosh struggled with his health before his death at age 50.

The death of the actor – known for playing ‘Big Keith’ Bishop in Ricky Gervais’ classic sitcom – was announced, prompting an outpouring of tributes.

Previously, Ewen was treated for health issues and was hospitalized in Willow Green Care Home. The care home’s website describes itself as providing a happy, comfortable, and safe environment for its residents.

Amid his struggles, MacIntosh, who also appeared in After Life, season three, shared a photo from his hospital bed on Twitter in February 2022. His health woes remain mysterious as he gave no details about the hospitalization.

Following the announcement of his passing, celebrities and well-wishers sent tributes, including Max Rushden and actress Holli Dempsey. MacIntosh had also struggled to find acting work in the past, facing financial troubles in 2016.

Ewen’s cause of death has not yet been revealed, but the actor had publicly opened up about facing difficulties in his life. Tributes have flooded social media, with several celebrities and fans expressing their grief.

Ewen MacIntosh portrayed the deadpan accountant ‘Big Keith’ in The Office, known for his comedic moments and iconic scotch egg scene. He remained with the show until its last episode in 2003.

The actor also appeared in other popular shows such as Miranda, Little Britain, Come Dine With Me, and even performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2007.
