Hours after the passing of the Ghana Freedom Party’s Presidential Candidate, Akua Donkor, some videos of interviews she had during her lifetime have emerged online.
In one of these interviews with Zionfelix TV, she spoke about her health status and her readiness to handle the responsibilities of the presidency despite her age and health challenges.
When asked if she could handle the demands of the presidential role, Akua Donkor confidently replied in the affirmative. She also mentioned that in the event of her demise, her running mate was prepared to take over her duties.
Akua Donkor, who began her political career as an Assemblywoman for Hemang in the Ashanti Region, was known for her humorous speeches and commentaries. Despite facing financial constraints, she ran for the presidency multiple times, showcasing resilience and determination.
With just 39 days left before the 2024 elections, Akua Donkor had been campaigning on promises of free vehicles for journalists, duty-free port services, free education, and better pay for farmers. She had recently made headlines by appointing Roman Fada, the manager for highlife musician Daddy Lumba, as her running mate.
Following Akua Donkor’s passing, Roman Fada stated in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM that no decision had been made regarding the party’s participation in the upcoming elections.
