Popular Ghanaian actor, Mikki Osei Berko, also known as Dada Boat, has expressed his deep concern over the prevalence of foreign content on Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) channels.
In an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show with Roselyn Felli, Dada Boat lamented the fact that GBC, as the national media station of the country, should be focusing on promoting local content instead of airing foreign programmes.
According to Dada Boat, the influx of foreign content on GBC and other Ghanaian media channels is hindering the progression of the local movie industry. He emphasized the importance of showcasing Ghanaian culture and talent to the world, rather than relying on foreign entertainment for viewership.
Dada Boat called on the government to intervene by implementing effective policies and training measures to reduce the dependence on foreign content in Ghanaian media. He believes that with the right support and initiatives in place, the local movie industry can thrive and gain recognition on a global scale.
It is clear that Dada Boat is passionate about preserving and promoting Ghanaian culture through local content and is dedicated to seeing the industry grow and flourish.
