Ghanaian Afrobeats star, King Promise, has added his voice to the recent controversy sparked by socialite Efia Odo’s comments about Dancehall artist Stonebwoy at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
During an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, King Promise defended Efia Odo, stating that everyone has the right to express their opinions. He mentioned that he had known Efia Odo for a long time and that her intentions were not malicious.
King Promise also revealed that he has faced his fair share of online negativity and criticism, but he remains focused on his music career.
He emphasized the competitive nature of the industry, stating, “It’s a competition. Like I said, we are at war. Everyone’s trying to win.”
The controversy arose when Efia Odo publicly supported King Promise for the Artist of the Year award, which was ultimately won by Stonebwoy.
However, Efia Odo later apologized to Stonebwoy, and the two reconciled at the All-Black Party in Kumasi. A video circulating online shows them enjoying the event together and sharing a warm embrace.
