Ghanaian gospel artiste and pastor at ICGC Christ Temple, Ps Edwin Dadson, has advised fellow gospel musicians to focus on the impact of their songs rather than just their popularity.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, Ps. Dadson emphasized the importance of serving God and winning souls, rather than chasing after awards.

He expressed concern about the current state of the music industry, stating, “If we keep following the popularity of music, we will lose the essence and quality.”

Ps. Dadson also shared his thoughts on the new Best Urban/Contemporary Gospel Song category introduced in the 2025 Telecel Ghana Gospel Music Awards (TGMA).

While he commended the organizers for creating the new category, Ps. Dadson urged gospel musicians to focus on the ultimate goal of gospel music and not just the prestige that comes with winning awards. He emphasized the importance of leaving a legacy and asked, “If I get an award, what’s next?”

Several gospel musicians, including Kingzkid, Scott Evans, and KobbySalm, have praised the introduction of the new category. The consensus is that the category should inspire artistes to strive for excellence and make a lasting impact through their music.
