The Empowerment Worship Centre (EWC) recently held its annual LifeCheck social outreach program, which saw over 16,000 children, women, and men benefit from free medical care, back-to-school supplies, and more.
Under the leadership of Global Lead Pastor, Pastor Gideon Danso, LifeCheck 2024 lived up to its promise of bringing “Compassion to Make a Difference” to the community.
Held at Camp 2 School Park in Teshie, the event attracted people from neighboring areas such as Tse Addo, Baatsonaa, Nungua, and the Spintex Road community.
Attendees were able to access a range of free medical services including eye care, dental care, ultrasound scans, and minor surgical procedures.
Laboratory services for various health conditions were also available, with approximately 500 people being registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for free.
In addition to the medical services, LifeCheck’s Back-to-School initiative distributed over 100,000 exercise books, 4000 school bags, and stationery items to more than 11,000 children.
They also provided 5,200 shoes to children in need, barbered almost 100 kids, and served over 10,000 families with free meals.
This year’s LifeCheck theme, “Compassion to Make a Difference,” inspired the dedication and involvement of the over 500 volunteers who participated in the event.
Pastor Gideon Danso emphasized that LifeCheck is a way for EWC to embody the love and compassion of Jesus to those in need.
The event, which took place on Saturday, September 28th, marked the 10th year of LifeCheck.
Since its inception, the program has served over 52,000 individuals, provided medical care to more than 28,000 people, and equipped over 32,000 children with back-to-school items.
More than 11,000 individuals have been registered with the NHIS through LifeCheck, with this year’s target of 15,000 being exceeded.
