A year after the chilling murder of Detroit neurosurgeon Devon Hoover, a breakthrough has finally been made in his case.
Hoover, a beloved doctor known for his exceptional skill and compassion towards his patients, was gunned down in his Boston-Edison Historic District home on April 23, 2023.
Following a wellness check that led to the grim discovery of Hoover’s body wrapped in a sheet in the attic crawlspace of his house, investigators found that there was no forced entry.
This led them to believe that Hoover knew his killer. His phone, wallet, and jewelry were missing from the scene, along with his car, which was later recovered in the same area.
After a lengthy investigation, Desmond Burks was arrested on August 7, 2024, in connection to Hoover’s murder.
Burks was charged with several criminal counts, including first-degree premeditated murder, felony murder, and larceny of over $20,000. It was later revealed that Hoover and Burks were involved in an intimate relationship, shedding light on a possible motive for the crime.
The late surgeon’s family expressed their profound sadness at the loss of their beloved son, brother, and uncle.
They thanked the community for their support and remembered Hoover as a gift from God who used his talents to bless many lives.
