Exciting boxing match to take place at York Hall later this month as Charlie Edwards challenges George Ory for the WBC International silver bantamweight title.
Edwards, with a record of 18-1-0, will face Ory on Friday, April 12, in what promises to be a thrilling main event. The 31-year-old’s only loss dates back to 2016, a clash with John Riel Casemiro in an IBF World Flyweight bout.
Having previously held the British super-flyweight title and the WBC flyweight title, Edwards moved up to bantamweight due to health concerns and relinquished his flyweight title in 2019. Since then, he has recorded wins over Kyle Williams, Jacob Barreto, and Darwing Martinez.
The match will be held at York Hall, with the undercard starting at 9pm BST and the main event expected to take place at 10.30pm BST. The fight will be broadcast live on Channel 5 and can be streamed online through Freeview Player.
Frenchman Ory, with a record of 17-1-3, is a former European champion and has won a version of the world title at super flyweight. However, Edwards remains confident in his abilities and looks forward to the intense atmosphere at York Hall.
In a column for the South London Press, Edwards expressed his excitement about returning to London for the match and emphasized the significance of York Hall in British boxing history. He acknowledged Ory’s skills but believes he can handle the pressure and challenges to secure victory in front of a passionate audience.
