Joy FM broadcaster Kofi Hayford has raised concerns about the lack of respect shown towards disc jockeys in Ghana.
In a recent appearance on the Road to Guinness Ghana DJ Awards 2024 show, Hayford highlighted the unfortunate stigma attached to the DJing profession.
He recounted a personal experience where an acquaintance expressed disappointment that he had pursued a career in radio broadcasting instead of becoming a doctor.
Hayford emphasized the importance of recognizing the skill and artistry involved in being a DJ, noting that many people underestimate the talent required to entertain listeners through music.
He praised the organizers of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards for their efforts in elevating the status of DJs in the industry and urged the public to shift away from negative stereotypes about DJs.
The upcoming 12th edition of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards is set to take place on November 9 at the Palms Convention Center, featuring performances from some of Ghana’s most popular DJs.
