Baba Sadiq, the newly-elected Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei Central Constituency, has urged his opponent, Patrick Boamah, to gracefully accept his defeat.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Sadiq addressed Patrick’s concerns about the election results.
“I think he must accept, so we can move on,” Sadiq stated. He also commented on Patrick’s intention to challenge the results in court, saying, “That’s an option less for him that one can’t really say.
I would have wished that for someone that had been voted for three different times by the constituents and for them to actually show a willingness to change this time around, I think he needs to accept the fate and probably move on to something else.”
Despite the electoral outcome, Sadiq acknowledged Boamah’s political experience and potential for growth within his party and the political sphere. “He is a fine gentleman, he’s got a very good political experience.
I think he can move up and there is every opportunity for him to move up within his party or within the political ladder itself,” Sadiq remarked.
The election results revealed a close race, with Sadiq securing 15,383 votes and Boamah receiving 14,949 votes. Sadiq emphasized that the outcome indicated a desire for change among the constituents.
As the dust settles on the election, Sadiq and his team are focused on serving the people of Okaikwei Central to the best of their abilities.
