We’re committed to supporting production of world class content, films – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his government’s commitment to supporting the production of high-quality content and films for the global market.

During his State of the Nation Address in Parliament, the president announced the implementation of a 20 percent tax rebate on movie equipment as part of efforts to boost the movie industry.

He stated, “Government, through the National Film Authority, is dedicated to backing the production of top-notch content and films, as well as enhancing cinema infrastructure in Ghana and across the continent.

Cabinet is currently finalizing a favorable fiscal regime for cinema projects, which includes incentives such as income tax and VAT incentives, import duty exemptions on film production equipment, and a 20% tax rebate for strategic film productions and film financing reliefs. This move is aimed at positioning Ghana as a preferred destination for film production.”

Furthermore, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the government’s focus on promoting tourism in the country by establishing Ghana’s first Kente Museum in Bonwire.

“The construction of the first-ever Kente Museum, located in Bonwire, Ashanti Region, serves to preserve Ghana’s rich cultural heritage. Additionally, preparations and designs for the construction of Heroes Park, a museum dedicated to the Big Six founding fathers of Ghana, have been completed, with construction set to begin soon,” he added.
