Wave Africa, a youth-focused marketing and communication agency, recently highlighted the reasons behind Shatta Wale’s absence from the Reunion Rave Artiste Night event on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

The event, which was a collaboration with TF Hostels, stirred up discussions on social media when it was revealed that Shatta Wale was unable to perform despite being scheduled for the show.

In a press release issued by Wave Africa, it was disclosed that they were approached two months prior by the executives of Jean Topp Nelson Yankah Hall to secure an artiste and organize the event on their behalf.

After extensive deliberations, a formal contract was signed on June 5, 2024.

Following the contract signing, Wave Africa promptly secured a deal with Shatta Wale to perform on the night, and promotional materials featuring the artist were released.

However, the event faced a setback on June 7, 2024, when the Dean of Students’ Office announced the cancellation of the event.

Despite reassurances from the hall executives that the issues with the Dean of Students office had been resolved, the event faced interference during setup and sound checks on June 8, 2024.

The Legon campus security intervened, citing an ‘order from above.’

After a meeting with the Dean of Students, Wave Africa was informed that the event could proceed but without Shatta Wale’s performance. In adherence to the directive, the event proceeded without the artist’s presence.

Wave Africa expressed surprise and disappointment at the turn of events, apologizing to event patrons for not delivering Shatta Wale’s performance as promised.

They have initiated legal action and are actively engaging with all parties involved to address the situation.

The agency’s transparency regarding the incident sheds light on the challenges faced in event organization and the complexities involved in ensuring a successful show.
