Renowned Nollywood actor and distinguished academic, Dr. Columbus Irosanga, has sadly passed away. The news of his death was announced by actress Hilda Dokubo on her Instagram page, where she expressed her shock and grief over the loss.
Dr. Irosanga, who hailed from Okrika, Rivers State, was best known for his exceptional performances as a chief priest in Nollywood films, most notably his memorable role as “Igbudu” in the popular 2001 movie Isakaba.
Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades for his acting skills, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), Best Actor in a Drama at the City People Entertainment Awards, Most Promising Actor in Nigeria at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), and Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Best of Nollywood Awards.
In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Dr. Irosanga was a respected senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt, where he played a significant role in shaping the next generation of actors.
With a heavy heart, the Nigerian academic and entertainment communities mourn the loss of Dr. Columbus Irosanga.
He is survived by his family, and his legacy as a talented actor and educator will always be remembered.
