Ghanaian musician Jasmine.T, currently based in the United States of America, has voiced her concerns about President Donald Trump’s deportation policy.
In an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Jasmine.T spoke about the challenges immigrants are facing and the fear of being separated from their families in the coming four years.
As Trump’s administration authorizes Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to target sensitive locations for deportations, including schools, churches, playgrounds, and daycare centers, African migrants and other immigrant communities are living in fear.
Having grown up in the Bronx with Ghanaian parents who migrated to the US in the 90s, Jasmine combines elements of urban New York life with West African and Caribbean music in her songs. Her debut R&B single “Lonely” was released in 2018, and she has since been working to break boundaries with her music.
Jasmine.T’s latest single, “Sexy 23”, showcases her versatility and creativity by blending R&B with the energetic vibes of dancehall. Her music is a reflection of her life experiences and celebrates her heritage while staying true to her Bronx roots.
With other songs like “Heat”, “You Knew”, “Ride”, “Pressure”, “Deserve”, and the “No BS” remix, Jasmine.T’s unique sound is gaining recognition on various streaming platforms.
