Tristan Thompson has officially become the legal guardian of his younger brother Amari, following the passing of their mother, Andrea, a year ago.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the Los Angeles County Superior Court granted sole guardianship to Tristan over Amari, who is 17 years old.
Tristan initially filed for temporary guardianship in September, citing the lack of involvement from their father, Trevor, in raising Amari, who has epilepsy and other medical conditions, since 2014.
Additionally, the judge ruled against a reunion between Amari and Trevor, citing neglect and abandonment under California law.
Tristan, being Amari’s legal guardian, will now be responsible for managing his brother’s finances, making decisions about living arrangements, and handling Amari’s $103,475 inheritance.
Amari resides with Tristan in Hidden Hills, California, after temporarily staying with Tristan’s ex, Khloé Kardashian, following storm damage to Tristan’s home.
Khloé expressed her gratitude at being able to support Amari during his challenging time, emphasizing the importance of being a reliable and nurturing figure for him.
Despite the circumstances, Khloé and Tristan remain committed to providing a stable and loving environment for Amari, showcasing their dedication to his well-being.
