The Minister Designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has proposed the need for a restructuring of the ministry during her vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
She emphasized the importance of addressing overlapping responsibilities within the ministry once proper structures are in place.
Gomashie highlighted the various agencies under the ministry’s scope, including the Ghana Tourism Authority, National Film Authority, National Theatre, and Creative Arts Agency, among others.
With her background as an actress, film producer, and Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency, Gomashie brings a wealth of experience to the position.
Having earned degrees in Theatre Arts and African Studies, Gomashie has a strong passion for arts, culture, and heritage.
She played a pivotal role in the development of key documents such as the Ghana Culture Policy and Creative Arts Industry Bill during her tenure as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts from 2013 to 2017.
Gomashie’s commitment to advancing the culture and creative industries is evident through her involvement in initiatives both locally and internationally. She has been instrumental in the formation of the Creative Arts Council and is a member of the ECOWAS committee for the Reparation of Stolen Artefacts of Africa.
As the nominee for Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Gomashie’s call for a restructuring of the ministry reflects her dedication to optimizing the sector’s impact and effectiveness.
