Over the weekend, dance enthusiasts witnessed an exciting event as the Ghana DanceSport League made its debut at the 10th Ghana Dance Festival at Alliance Francaise. The league featured six talented dance crews competing for the top spot.
Team Hubes Dance Crew emerged victorious, beating out tough competition from United Kings Academy, 4Bent Dance Crew, Asa Academy, Flames Dance Company, and BAS Academy. The competition had a presentation-style format, with each crew showcasing their routines in different rounds.
After the initial stage, the top four crews based on creativity, teamwork, execution, and showmanship advanced to the next stage. Team Hubes faced off against 4Bent Dance Crew in a thrilling match to secure a spot in the finals, while United Dance Academy battled Asa Dance Crew for their place in the championship showdown.
In the end, Team Hubes Dance Crew from Korle Gonno in Accra claimed the top spot, winning 4,000 cedis. United Kings Academy from Abesim in Sunyani took the second spot with a prize of 2,000 cedis, and 4Bent Dance Crew representing Dansoman in Accra secured the third position with a prize of 1,000 cedis.
The panel of judges for the league included dance champions and experts such as Adjetey Sowah, Dr. Terry Bright Ofosu, and Yvonne “Laladzy” Okyere. The event marked the official launch of the Ghana DanceSport League, aimed at promoting dance as a sport and providing a platform for dance athletes to showcase their talent.
In addition to the competition, guests at the festival enjoyed performances from various dance groups, including DWP Academy, Millitantz Dance Family, Arenees Dance Crew, Flawless Dance Studio, and more. The Street Dance Fiesta was a celebration of creativity and talent in the dance community, showcasing the vibrant dance scene in Ghana.
