Outgoing Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, Juliet Yaa Asante Asante, has called on the government to officially notify her of the termination of her appointment.

In a Facebook post, Asante expressed her disappointment that the government did not inform her to vacate her position before appointing two new officials to replace her. She emphasized the importance of receiving a formal layoff letter as a sign of respect for both outgoing and incoming officials.

Recently, Kafui Danku was appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, with James Gardiner as her Deputy. Asante highlighted some of the challenges she faced during her tenure, including the lack of financial support and office space at the initial stages of her appointment.

She also shared instances of antagonism from the Board and instances of sexual harassment from male superiors. Despite these challenges, Asante remained dedicated to her role and worked tirelessly to advance the objectives of the National Film Authority.

As she bids farewell to her position, Asante expressed gratitude to those who supported her along the way, including staff volunteers who continued to serve diligently despite not receiving payment. She also called for the provision of necessary resources, such as an office and a car, for her successor, Kafui Danku, to ensure effective work conditions.

In conclusion, Asante reflected on her time in office and expressed regret that she could not complete all the work she had set out to do. She thanked the people of Ghana and the film industry for the privilege of serving and expressed optimism for the future.
