The Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre was a hub of excitement on Saturday, November 30, 2024, as fashion enthusiasts and buffs converged for the Kente Edition of Rhythms On Da Runway.
The 12th edition of the event showcased the African fashion narrative from diverse angles, with a special emphasis on peace and unity through the symbolism of kente.
Kofi Okyere Darko, the organizer, explained that the interwoven strands of the kente fabric symbolize the harmonious co-existence of individuals from different ethnic, tribal, religious, and political backgrounds.
The evening commenced with elegance and grandeur on the green carpet, where attendees mingled and socialized while enjoying drinks and capturing memorable moments against stunning artistic backgrounds.
Kwanpa set the tone for the night with a spectacular performance that ushered everyone into the main auditorium for the main showcase.
Poet Apiokor kickstarted the event with captivating Kente poetry that highlighted the significance of the country’s heritage and the need to cherish it.
Hosted by Jerry Adjorlolo and AJ Akuoko Sarpong, the night unfolded with flair as top models graced the runway in exquisite designs from renowned designers such as Ophelia Crossland, Velma’s Millinery and Accessories, Yaws Creation, Selina Beb, Odefille, Milkwhite Apparel, Masantewaa, and Kustom Look Clothier.
The runway display was interspersed with captivating performances by Edem, Amandzeba Nat Brew, Kwabena Kwabena, Michael Stuckey, Bibie Brew, Stonebwoy, Asabea Cropper, and Kenteman.
The energy in the auditorium reached a crescendo when Stonebwoy, the reigning Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year, made a surprise appearance on the runway, delivering a powerful performance that reiterated the event’s theme of promoting peace and unity during the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.
The night also saw the honoring of Agya Koo Nimo, Chief Dele Momodu, Bibie Brew, and Kwabena Kwabena for their invaluable contributions to the creative arts industry.
Since its inception in 2010, Rhythms On Da Runway has been a symbol of unity, blending the dynamic forces of African fashion and music to celebrate the boundless talent on the continent.
