Recently, on December 30, 2024, I had the pleasure of attending Promiseland, an annual concert by the talented King Promise.
But before diving into the thrilling event, let me take you on a brief detour to my encounter with a suya seller earlier that day.
As I made my way to the office, I decided to stop by my favorite suya spot. To my surprise, the usual friendly face behind the counter was missing, replaced by someone new. Curious, I inquired about the absence of the regular suya chef, fondly known as “Abochi.”
The substitute gentleman informed me that Abochi had ventured to Madina to set up a new branch of the suya business, showcasing his hardworking nature.
I was impressed and proceeded to place my order, requesting GHs10 worth of suya with extra pepper and no tough towel.
As I savored my sumptuous meal, I couldn’t help but appreciate Abochi’s dedication to expanding his business. In a playful exchange, I jokingly suggested marrying him for free daily suya, highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit and commitment of individuals like him.
Transitioning from the culinary escapade to the musical extravaganza at Promiseland, the atmosphere was electrifying as fans eagerly awaited King Promise’s performance.
The event, held at Ghud Park, featured impressive setups, exclusive amenities, and tight security measures, ensuring a memorable experience for attendees.
As King Promise took the stage, adorned in his signature cowboy hat, the crowd erupted with love and admiration, echoing declarations of affection and marriage proposals. Amidst the fervent fanfare, I encountered a tearful lady whose emotional response to the music touched my heart.
Despite her reluctance to engage further, I felt compelled to offer support and understanding, witnessing firsthand the profound impact of music on individuals.
As the night unfolded with special guest appearances and soulful performances, I reflected on the power of music to unite and inspire diverse emotions.
Although the encounter with the emotional fan didn’t culminate in a fairy-tale ending, it underscored the transcendent nature of music and its ability to evoke deep-seated emotions within us.
