Ghanaian gospel artist Celestine Donkor has joined the discussion on the Telecel Ghana Music Awards’ rule that restricts non-gospel artists from being nominated in the gospel music categories. In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, Celestine shared her views on what defines a gospel song.
According to Celestine, a gospel song is one that is connected to God or conveys a message of godliness to inspire and encourage people.
She even went on to label Ras Kuuku’s song ‘Me Mpaebo’ as a gospel song, emphasizing its positive impact. She also mentioned Kwabena Kwabena’s ‘Bue Kwan Mame’ as an example of a song that may not fit the traditional gospel genre but still carries a meaningful message.
In other news, Celestine Donkor has released her latest single ‘Amazing’ and is gearing up for the 11th edition of Celestial Praiz on March 9th at 3:55 pm.
The event, taking place at Victory Bible Church, will feature an array of gospel artists from Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa, including Minister GUC, Zaza, Rev Dadson, and Kwaku Teye. Tickets are available for purchase at various prices, offering attendees a chance to enjoy a night of uplifting music and worship.
