Actor Austin North speaks after his arrest on gross misdemeanor battery charges in Las Vegas after launching into a severe anxiety attack during a Super Bowl trip to the Sin City. He was said to have a “very little memory of the events that day.”
In a statement, he expressed his displeasure with the situation and claimed to be having an extreme panic attack which led him to believe he was having a heart attack. Adding that several tests including blood tested negative for any alcohol or drugs in his system, North claimed “very little memory of the events that day.”
“I have battled anxiety on and off for years and this was the most extreme panic attack I’ve ever had,” he said. Going forward, I hope to shed light on this debilitating disorder and send hope to those who have also struggled,” he said.
North portrays Topper in the hit series “Outer Banks”, he appeared to be in high spirits during the Super Bowl trip.
According to a police report, obtained by TMZ, North’s emergency room trip ended with assault allegations. He was taken into custody after reportedly attacking nurses and other hospital staff with the report stating he assaulted nurses and a phlebotomist at the University Medical Center Las Vegas on Tuesday where he was handcuffed to a gurney and booked for gross misdemeanor battery and released on bail, TMZ reports.
Insisting he has the utmost respect for healthcare workers and hospital staff, he claimed anxiety had been an ongoing battle for him for years and he hopes to raise awareness about the disorder through the events of his most recent panic attack.
He adds that the situation was further exacerbated by the panic attack which reminds people to take mental health more seriously.
