Ghanaian musician Kwabena Kwabena recently expressed his disappointment with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their treatment of him over the years. In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, he discussed feeling betrayed after the NPP used one of his songs for their campaign without his permission.
The NPP had selected the number one position and decided to use an old song for their campaign, reaching out to Kwabena Kwabena’s team for permission. However, the song was edited and played on radio without his consent. They specifically used the “oye number one” part of the song to communicate their number one position on the ballot.
Although Kwabena Kwabena had previously composed a campaign song for the NPP in 2016, titled “Vote Number 1,” which helped the party win the elections, he shared that some individuals took money on his behalf without his consent. The party later denied him compensation, claiming they had already paid him.
When asked about his thoughts on Nana Akufo-Addo’s eight years in power, Kwabena Kwabena expressed dissatisfaction, stating, “I don’t think any human being would be satisfied; it feels very bad they could behave like that.” He believes that the outcome of the last election reflects the dissatisfaction of Ghanaians, emphasizing that he too cannot be satisfied.
