Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mother has come out in defense of her son amidst allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering. Janice Small Combs expressed her devastation and sadness over the accusations, stating that they are “lies”.
The renowned musician, famous for hits like “I’ll Be Missing You”, is currently in a Manhattan detention center after being denied bail. His mother, in a statement issued by her lawyer Natalie G Figgers, stood by her son, acknowledging that he has made mistakes in the past but refuting the portrayal of him as a monster.
Recently, it was reported that Mr. Combs could face lawsuits from over 100 additional accusers for alleged sexual assault, rape, and sexual exploitation. His lawyer has vehemently denied these charges, labeling them as false and defamatory.
This is not the first time Mr. Combs has been embroiled in legal troubles. Last year, his former partner Cassie Ventura accused him of rape and abuse, a case that was settled out of court. Subsequently, he faced lawsuits from 12 other women, many alleging drugging and assault.
Federal agents raided his properties earlier this year as part of a criminal investigation, and a video of Mr. Combs physically assaulting Ms. Ventura in 2016 surfaced in May. Despite these allegations, his mother acknowledged that her son has not always been truthful, especially in denying violent behavior towards an ex-girlfriend.
While Mr. Combs has admitted responsibility for his actions in the leaked video, his mother maintained that one lie does not equate to guilt for all the other serious allegations against him. She believes that some accusers may be motivated by financial gain.
Mr. Combs is scheduled to appear in court on October 9th, where his legal team will push for bail.
Prosecutors have argued that he poses a significant risk to the trial, citing attempts to obstruct the investigation by contacting victims and witnesses with false narratives.
