Omowunmi, the widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has accused her late husband’s father, Joseph Aloba, of delaying the DNA test that was ordered to resolve the paternity dispute of her son, Liam.
The ongoing disagreement between the two parties has been going on for months, with Omowunmi’s legal team, Salawu Akingbolu Chambers, claiming that Mr. Aloba has been rejecting their proposed medical facilities for the DNA test.
In a letter dated January 9, 2025, Omowunmi’s lawyers stated that while she objected to using UCH Ibadan for the test, Aloba also opposed her choice of Lagoon Hospitals.
Despite suggesting alternative facilities such as Eko Hospital and Reddington Hospital, Omowunmi claimed that Aloba failed to respond to her proposals.
The Magistrates Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, had directed both parties to explore alternative dispute resolution measures and conduct the DNA test at a mutually agreed-upon facility under supervision.
However, the delays in reaching a resolution have frustrated Omowunmi, who threatened to proceed independently with the DNA test if the matter remained unresolved.
In response to these allegations, Aloba’s former legal team, Hillceetee Partners, denied any misrepresentation on social media and clarified that no statements had been made implying Omowunmi’s unwillingness to cooperate. They also announced their withdrawal from representing Aloba in the case.
The dispute has taken a new turn with both parties at odds over the choice of medical facilities for the DNA test, further complicating the already tense situation surrounding the paternity of Liam.
