Actress Martha Ankomah has taken legal action against Kumawood actor, Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as Lil Win, for allegedly making derogatory comments about her.
A video of Lil Win insulting Martha Ankomah for supposedly telling a Kumawood director that she would not work with any of the Kumawood stars has gone viral. He was heard belittling her prominence in the film industry in the said video.
Following this, Martha Ankomah has filed a defamation lawsuit at an Accra High Court, demanding damages amounting to GH¢5 million, as well as an apology and a retraction of the alleged defamatory words with the same prominence.
The lawsuit seeks damages for the defamatory statements made by Lil Win, as well as compensatory and aggravated damages for the harm caused to Martha Ankomah’s reputation. It also orders Lil Win to publish an apology and retraction of the disparaging words with the same prominence.
Lil Win has been given eight days to respond to the lawsuit, and if he fails to do so, judgment may be given in his absence without further notice.
This legal action underscores the seriousness with which public figures take defamation and highlights the importance of upholding one’s reputation in the entertainment industry.
