Ghanaian musician and medical doctor, Knii Lante, has highlighted the growing concern of health workers leaving the country for better opportunities abroad. In an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Knii Lante expressed his distress over the impact this trend is having on Ghana’s healthcare sector.

According to Knii Lante, he recently noticed a long queue of healthcare workers dressed in nurses’ uniforms at a location in Abelemkpe, only to later discover that they were there to apply for visas to Canada. This revelation is a stark reminder of the brain drain that is plaguing Ghana’s healthcare industry.

The talented musician also raised alarm over the alarming doctor-patient ratio in Ghana, where one doctor is responsible for thousands of patients. He emphasized the urgent need for the government to prioritize healthcare by increasing funding for medical and nursing schools, as well as providing better working conditions to encourage healthcare professionals to stay in the country.

Amidst these challenges, Knii Lante has released a new song titled ‘Everyday is Valentine’, with the aim of promoting love and unity within the community beyond just the conventional celebration on February 14th.
