The Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has emphasized the urgent need to enhance infrastructure in Ghana’s hospitality industry.
This move is crucial to attracting more visitors and ultimately increasing national revenue.
Various stakeholders have raised concerns about the deteriorating state of the hospitality sector in Ghana. This decline has resulted in many Ghanaians seeking tourism opportunities outside the country’s borders.
During her appearance before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 22, 2025, Abla Dzifa Gomashie expressed her disappointment over the inadequate infrastructure to cater to both local and international demand.
She assured that she would work closely with the private sector to improve infrastructure and expand the sector’s capacity to accommodate the growing interest in tourism.
She acknowledged the high hotel rates in Ghana, even for hotels with franchises in other countries. Gomashie stressed the importance of addressing the lack of infrastructure as it hinders the country from maximizing revenue potential.
Gomashie called on all interested parties, including those in the private sector, to collaborate with her in improving infrastructure within and outside Ghana.
