Ghanaian musician and Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central constituency, Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has shared insights into the valuable advice he received from dancehall artiste Shatta Wale that helped him secure victory in the 2024 election.

Speaking in a live video on social media, A Plus emphasized the importance of seeking counsel from a diverse range of individuals, including those who may not be traditionally considered as wise. He revealed that Shatta Wale played a significant role in guiding him on his campaign strategy.

“When I was going to campaign, I went to Shatta Wale. God will not put sense where you think sense is. There are places where it is obvious there is sense but after I listened to everybody, I went to Shatta Wale,” A Plus shared.

He recounted how Shatta Wale advised him to focus on addressing the needs of the people, drawing a parallel to the actions of Jesus Christ. “They don’t do it like that. Jesus Christ, he didn’t talk. He gave people food, he gave them fish and bread,” Shatta Wale advised him.

A Plus acknowledged the wisdom in Shatta Wale’s words and highlighted his commitment to serving the people of his constituency. He emphasized that he provided essential amenities such as roads and free internet to his constituents prior to the election, with a promise to continue improving their quality of life.

As an independent candidate in the 2024 election, A Plus secured a notable victory by garnering 14,277 votes, defeating the incumbent MP from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by a margin of 2,640 votes.
